Meet Teresa Ojinma
Somatics Teacher
Teresa Ojinma is the owner of Home Fitness Plus in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, where she serves her community as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Kinesiologist, and Essential Somatics Movement Teacher. Over the past decade, her business has evolved to reflect her continual learning and diverse experiences in health and wellness. She offers personal training, rehabilitation services, restorative movement education, and natural restorative therapies, all aimed at supporting her clients’ well-being in a holistic way.
Teresa was introduced to somatic movement education seven years ago and was immediately captivated by its potential to bring about profound changes in pain management and movement freedom. After completing her Essential Somatics Movement Teacher Training (ESMTT) certification in 2019, she began teaching in a studio for over a year. The COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 prompted her to transition to online teaching, expanding her reach to students across the globe. This practice transformed the way Teresa lives, works, and teaches movement, deepening her interest in the mind-body-spirit connection not only in relation to movement but also to overall health and wellness.
Following a cancer diagnosis in 2021, Teresa explored the root causes of disease and the holistic aspects of health and wellness, discovering the profound effects of stress, trauma, and negative beliefs on physiology. She found that love has a unique healing power beyond what medication can provide. During her healing journey, she connected with Nicole through their mutual interest in the Aleph-Tav Body System, founded by Dr. Alphonzo Monzo, who supported Teresa during and after her radiation treatment. Nicole reached out to Teresa after seeing an interview where she shared her testimony and insights into somatic movement education. They began working together through online somatic movement sessions, and Nicole quickly realized how this practice transformed not only the way she rides and teaches riding but also how it positively impacts horses.
