Meet Janet Miller
Coach
Throughout Janet’s childhood, she could be found most often, riding horses at Grandpa’s house. She is now honored to be part of Nicole Kallstrom’s Team, helping Nicole stay in a healthy and balanced emotional (mind and heart) space, offering encouragement and support to overcome the many challenges of pursuing big dreams and being “big and great”.
Janet likes to say that she grew up in Track and Field. She started competing when she was ten years old, ran through high school and college and then began to coach and officiate. She had the opportunity to coach many gifted athletes, including the only athlete in their state to win the 3200 M and the 1600 M for four years in a row, and the World Air Games Champion (high jump) and many athletes in the top ten in the nation. As a Track and Field official, Janet worked high school meets, university meets, professional meets, The USA Olympic Team Trials, and assisted at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
As a coach, it was important to Janet that her athletes were not only prepared, and understood the exercise physiology and biomechanics of their events, but that they learned important life lessons, including believing they could do amazing things. She wanted them to understand that if they could do hard physical things and overcome them, then when faced with hard emotional things, they could also overcome them. Janet was also an athletic trainer for more than 11 years, caring for injured athletes and inviting them to believe they could heal and become more.
Janet is a dynamic public speaker with over 40 years of experience. She invites people to become more than they thought they could be. She has had many audiences, from student athletes, track camps and church camps, to State Track and Field Coaches’ Clinics, to the National Conference for Sports’ Psychologists and Counselors, to groups of people learning to survive and thrive in care-giving. Janet was part of the development committee for the United States Sports Chaplains, with the world and Olympic champion, the Reverend Doctor Madeline Manning Mims as chair.
Janet also worked for 11 years at a large hospice as a bereavement counselor and speaker, helping people in the very challenging situations of end of life, face the difficult things and carry on. Not afraid to say hard and real things, she brought Truth and comfort.
Yahuah (God) called Janet to leave track and field to go to school to be a counselor, so that she could be the pastor He called her to be. She has been leading a congregation based on Hebrew understanding of the Bible, for over 20 years. Janet is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who is in private practice, and is the founder of Parable Coaching and Counseling Resources, LLC, where she offers counseling and coaching. Janet works with people who are courageously pursuing their goals and dreams.
Janet has studied Aleph Tav Body, Pathways, and Splankna as ways to help the whole person come into balance. She offers coaching for persons who are trying to find their purpose, in real normal life struggles, to persons dealing with trauma and severe ritual trauma. Janet also loves working with couples, offering pre-marriage and marriage coaching. She especially loves working with anyone willing to bravely face hard things and passionately pursue more of their dreams.
As one of her high jumpers put it – “Janet listens to the person’s heart, and then sings their song back to them, when they can’t even remember they had a song in the first place. She reminds them who they are called and gifted to be and then helps them believe it, even on the days they can’t seem to find it.”
Janet earned her master’s degree at Siena Heights University in Counselor Education, and her undergraduate degree at Bowling Green State University in Health Education.
Janet has been married to Scoop for over 40 years. They have three married children and four grandchildren. They live in Ohio, near their family, with their Australian Labradoodle, Orie (Yahuah’s light). She enjoys spending time with her family, running, tandem biking with Scoop, hiking, kayaking, many kinds of needle work, reading, gardening, studying the Word, and getting to watch people accomplish more than they thought they could. Janet invites people to courageous fierce faith.
